As wallpaper makes a comeback in the interior design world, Marimekko has reintroduced a line of its popular design prints on high quality wallpaper. FinnishGifts.com is excited to be one of the first retailers to offer Marimekko Wallpaper in the United States. We currently have 10 different designs in stock but will be adding more in the future. Marimekko is apparently in love with the color beige. They have recently released a new beige Unikko umbrella, a beige Kivet rain poncho and several beautiful beige bags. It may not be the bright or bold color that we’re used to seeing from Marimekko, but at least you can coordinate your apparel when it rains.

Hot off the Marimekko line are several new bags each with the same new print. The beige & black or beige & white print are available on the Marimekko Presto shoulder bag, the Marimekko Kvintti Handbag and the Marimekko Kvartti Tote Bag. These bags are a part of Marimekko’s 2009 summer collection. More to come soon!

Freshen up your kitchen with the new spring Auringonhattu design by Marimekko. This fun and bright floral pattern was designed by Erja Hirvi and is currently available on Marimekko Pot Holders and Oven Mitt. It is also available on PVC Fabric, which would be ideal to use as an outdoor tablecloth.

Sanna Annukka’s Kanteleen Kutsu and Taikamylly patterns are now appearing on a couple of Marimekko serving trays. FinnishGifts.com currently carries the Marimekko Kanteleen Kutsu Tray. Also pictured is the Taikamylly pattern on some plates and the Fokus pattern on some mugs (also available – Marimekko Fokus Latte Mug). As we get new Marimekko products in with Sanna Annukka designs, I’ll be sure to write posts about them so keep checking back.

We have recently added several new Marimekko bags to the site featuring rising designer, Sanna Annukka’s, Kanteleen Kutsu pattern. The Kanteleen Kutsu design (translates to the “Call of the Kantele”) depicts a scene from the Kalevala (Finland’s national epic) in which Väinämöinen plays his instrument for the animals. This fun and busy design is available on the Marimekko Karhu Tote Bag, Marimekko Kauris Bag and the Marimekko Orava Cosmetic Bag.
